Dubai Police Fines – Traffic Fines List, Black Points & Impound 2026
A Dubai Police fine is a penalty for a traffic offence on Dubai roads, with an amount in AED and, for serious offences, black points and vehicle confiscation. Fixed fines run from AED 100 to AED 3,000, while offences such as drink driving are decided by a court. Each fine also carries AED 20 in service fees, made up of an AED 10 knowledge fee and an AED 10 innovation fee. You can check and pay through the Dubai Police app or website, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), DubaiNow, MOI UAE or a Smart Police Station.
The Dubai Police fines list below follows the official “Black Points of Traffic Violations” table of 143 violations, updated on 4 January 2026. Each row shows the fine in AED, the black points and any impound period. Release fees under Dubai Decree No. 30 of 2023 are a separate charge for impounded cars and have their own table. The columns show the fine in AED, the black points and the impound period, and a dash means none. “By court” means a judge sets the penalty, and “licence frozen” means a heavy vehicle driver also loses the licence for one year.
Dangerous and reckless driving fines
Reckless driving carries the highest black points in the list, and most of these offences also lead to vehicle confiscation. Driving that endangers lives or damages property costs AED 2,000, 23 black points and a 60-day impound. Drink driving, drug driving and accidents that cause death or serious injury go to court.

Speeding fines depend on how far you exceed the maximum speed limit, starting at AED 300 for up to 20 km/h over. Black points start once you go more than 50 km/h over the limit. Above 60 km/h over, the fine is AED 2,000 with 12 black points and a 30-day impound.

Jumping a red light costs AED 1,000, 12 black points and a 30-day impound for cars and motorbikes. Heavy vehicle drivers pay AED 3,000 and have their licence frozen for one year. In Dubai, a red light jump also carries a separate AED 50,000 release fee to get the car back.

Riders and passengers must both wear a helmet, and a rider without one gets 4 black points on top of the AED 500 fine. Using a three-wheel or larger leisure bike on the road costs AED 3,000 and a 90-day impound. Under the Dubai decree, a recreational motorbike on paved roads also carries a separate AED 50,000 release fee.

Dubai Impound Release Fees (Decree No. 30 of 2023)
The amounts below are not fines but release fees under Dubai Decree No. 30 of 2023, which amended Decree No. 29 of 2015. You pay them on top of the traffic fine to get an impounded car back, and a repeat offence within one year doubles both the impound period and the fee, up to AED 200,000. A car with more than AED 6,000 in unpaid fines is held until they are paid.

What Changed Under the New UAE Traffic Law in 2025?
The UAE replaced its old federal traffic law with Federal Decree-Law No. 14 of 2024 on Traffic Regulation, in force since 29 March 2025. The new law lets the authorities suspend or cancel a licence for traffic safety reasons and leaves the detailed procedures to its Executive Regulations. We found no official announcement that the black points system changed, and Dubai Police still publishes its black points table, updated in January 2026.
How Are Dubai Traffic Fines Detected?
Most traffic fines in Dubai are recorded by fixed and mobile radars and by cameras at junctions and on roads such as Sheikh Zayed Road. Police patrols record violations on the spot, and each fine is registered against the vehicle with its date, time and location.
You may get an SMS alert when a fine is registered, but there is no official SMS service for checking or paying fines. Treat any message with a payment link as a possible scam. The safe way to confirm a Dubai traffic fine is to look it up yourself.
Where Dubai Police Fines Show Up
Every Dubai Police fine is recorded against the vehicle and the driver, so it appears in the official Dubai Police app and website, the RTA website and app, DubaiNow and the MOI UAE app. Each record shows the fine number, date, offence, amount in AED, black points and payment status. A plate search covers the vehicle, while an Emirates ID, driving licence or traffic file number search shows the fines linked to you as a driver. Once you see an amount, compare it with the Dubai Police fine amounts in the official list.
Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the other emirates issue their own fines, so a UAE traffic fine from another emirate appears in MOI UAE rather than as a Dubai fine. Salik toll fines come through the RTA, and Parkin issues paid parking fines. Fees Added to Every Dubai Police Fine
Every Dubai Police fine you pay costs the fine amount plus an AED 10 knowledge fee and an AED 10 innovation fee per violation. Dubai Police accepts cards, Apple Pay and cash at service centres, and online payment works only with cards issued in the UAE or another GCC country. These fees apply to each violation, so a ticket with three offences carries AED 60 in fees on top of the fines.
Fines on rental cars and for tourists
Visitors who drive in Dubai follow the same rules, and fines are recorded against the vehicle, which is usually a rental car. The rental company receives the fine and then charges it to the renter. Check the contract for how the company handles fines and black points before you drive.
Is There a Dubai Police Fine Discount in 2026?
No, Dubai has no active discount on traffic fines in 2026, either as an early-payment scheme or as a campaign. The last Dubai scheme, the “clean record” discount, ended in March 2020, and older 50% claims refer to past campaigns or to other emirates. Black Points and Licence Suspension in Dubai
The black points system adds points to the licence for serious offences, and a licence that reaches 24 points can be suspended. Points are reported to expire 12 months after the violation, and each suspension is longer than the last. Paying a traffic fine Dubai Police issued does not remove its black points. Dubai Police can impound a car for the periods in the fines list, for the Decree No. 30 of 2023 cases and when unpaid fines pass AED 6,000. To get it back, you pay the fines, any release fee and storage, and fix the violation if needed, such as removing illegal tint. A police clearance certificate and a traffic clearance certificate are different documents. The Dubai Police clearance certificate confirms your criminal record status for work, visa or immigration purposes. What happens if I don’t pay a Dubai Police fine?
Unpaid fines stay on your record and can block your vehicle registration renewal, licence renewal and residency renewal. If the fines on a vehicle pass AED 6,000, Dubai Police can impound the car until they are paid. Dubai has no discount to wait for, so paying or using an instalment plan is the safer choice.
Are Salik and Parkin fines included in Dubai Police fines?
No, Salik toll fines and Parkin paid parking fines are issued separately from Dubai Police traffic fines. Salik fines are handled through the RTA and your Salik account, while Parkin handles public parking fines. DubaiNow and the RTA app show fines from several authorities together.
Do black points expire in Dubai?
